Garment Manufacturer Onboarding: Docs, Samples, Timelines

Onboarding is the week where a good project is either set up cleanly or quietly put at risk. This is the practical pack we ask every new brand for, and the timeline that follows.

The short version

  • Send a tech pack, not a mood board.
  • Expect one or two sample rounds.
  • Approve samples in writing before bulk.
  • Shipping is typically 7–15 days in transit.

1. The documents to send

Document Why it matters
Tech pack Measurements, construction, fabric and trims
Size chart Base size and grading range
Fabric details Composition, weight, shade reference
Label and packing spec Woven labels, care labels, hangtags, polybags
Delivery window Target ex-factory date and destination

2. Sample rounds

A fit sample comes first. You mark corrections, we adjust the pattern and make a second sample if needed. Approval is written and dated, because that document protects both sides.

3. Production and quality

After approval the order moves to cutting, sewing and finishing. In-line checks run during sewing; the final inspection checks measurements, symmetry and packing against the spec.

4. A realistic timeline

  • Week 1: spec review, fabric confirmation, sample start.
  • Week 2: sample review and correction.
  • Weeks 3–6: bulk production, depending on quantity.
  • After ex-factory: 7–15 days in transit.

5. What slows onboarding down

Vague measurements, late fabric decisions and labels that arrive after cutting. Fix those three and most delays disappear.
