Low MOQ Clothing Manufacturing: What 50 Pieces Covers

Fifty pieces is the number most new brands ask about. It is a real number here, not a marketing line — but it comes with conditions. Here is what it covers and where it stops.

The short version

  • 50 pieces per style and colour, mixed sizes.
  • Plain and lightly trimmed constructions fit this minimum.
  • Heavy beading and special fabrics raise it.
  • Use the first run to test fit and sell-through.

1. What the number actually covers

One style, one colour, 50 pieces, with a size curve inside that run. It includes pattern use, cutting, sewing, finishing and packing. It does not include a new fabric development or a custom print.

2. What pushes the minimum up

Factor Why it raises MOQ
Heavy handwork Beading is priced per piece; setup spreads over more units
Special fabric Mill roll or dye-lot minimum
Custom print Screen or digital setup cost
New trims Custom moulds and lead time

3. Plan a 50-piece test properly

Pick your best-selling silhouette, not your favourite. Choose a fabric that exists in stock. Keep trim to two options. Then compare the sample to your block before you approve bulk.

4. What 50 pieces will not do

It will not prove a full size range or a new fabric. It will show you fit, finish, seam quality and how the factory communicates. Those four things decide whether you place the next order.
